Angelina Jolie Not In Gravity

I mentioned back in March that Angelina Jolie would probably not be going ahead with her role in Gravity.

Well it looks like I was right, because the role is now rumored to be going to Natalie Portman.
Gravity is Alfonso Cuaron's $80 million dollar "3D survival story" about two astronauts (a male and female) who are stranded after a disaster leaves their space station inoperable.
The male lead is reported to be Robert Downey Jr.

Oddly enough, Robert Downey Jr. plays Iron Man in the very successful films, and Natalie Portman will be playing Jane Foster in the upcoming Marvel movie, Thor.

According to reports, even after Angelina originally turned down the role, Warner Bros. still tried to get her, making a second offer.
But she still said no.

Gravity is supposed to start production at the end of January 2011, but with Angelina definitely saying no, the project might be in jeopardy, even with Robert Downey and Natalie Portman.

Angelina Jolie, Salt and Cleopatra

So just a few weeks before Angelina Jolie's movie "Salt" comes out, the FBI busts 11 alleged Russian spies.
Coincidence?
A PR agents dream?
Are my conspiracy buddies right and Hollywood really IS part of the "Shadow Government"?

Well who really knows, but what I thought may have started out as great PR for the film looks like it may be falling kinda flat as the FBI desperately tries to keep their case from looking like a joke.

But even if Salt can't cash in on the retro Cold War feel, Angelina still has several projects in the pipeline.

Of course the next one up is The Tourist with Johnny Depp.
Then she'll be reprising the voice of Master Tigress in the sequel to Kung Fu Panda, titled Kung Fu Panda 2: The Kaboom of Doom.
Following that, she'll start work on Queen of the Nile, Cleopatra: A Life, based on the book by Stacy Schiff, in which Angelina will play Cleopatra.

Angelina Jolie - The Tourist, Wanted 2 and Serena

You probably noticed that Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt missed the Oscars ceremony in Los Angeles.
Well they were in Italy were Angelina is shooting her new movie The Tourist (with Johnny Depp), and rather than blast across the globe for the ceremony, Brad and Angelina decided to stay in Italy and take the oldest kids to the director's house (Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck) to celebrate one of his kids' birthdays.
By the way, The Tourist is set to be released on February 16, 2011.

So with Salt in the bag, and The Tourist filming...what's next for Angelina?

For one thing, it looks like Wanted 2 will have to continue on without her because she has passed on that project.
Well not really continue, when Angelina passed on it, that pretty much killed the sequel.
And it was rumored that she would show up in the space-thriller, Gravity directed by Alfonso Cuarón, but it looks like that is a no go as well.

Two projects that are getting some attention are the film adaptation of Ron Rash's novel Serena, about the ambitious wife of a North Carolina timber baron.
The film may be directed by The Wrestler's director, Darren Aronofsky.
Does that mean Angelina will come to NC (my home state) to shoot?
Probably not, they'll probably film it in Vancouver...

Another project is a film adaptation of Patricia Cornwell's Dr. Kay Scarpetta books.
Well not really an adaptation, from what I hear it will be an original story focusing on a younger Scarpetta before the books start.
Did you know that Patricia Cornwell lived in NC for awhile as well?
Hmmmm...

And in tabloid fodder news, in the new book by Jenny Paul, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie: The True Story, the author says that Angelina Jolie had an affair with Mick Jagger twice.
The first time was in 1997 when Mick was married to Jerry Hall, and Angelina was married to Jonny Lee Miller.

And the book goes on to say that they hooked up again in 2003, after Angelina divorced Billy Bob Thornton.

The Actress Angelina Jolie, Part Two

In 1998, Angelina Jolie starred in a HBO film Gia, about the life of supermodel Gia Carangi.
If George Wallace got the critics attention, Gia won their respect.
Gia netted Angelina a Golden Globe award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Mini-Series or Motion Picture Made for Television and a Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Television Movie or Miniseries.
Angelina was also nominated for an Emmy Award.

After Gia, Angelina stopped acting for a bit and enrolled in New York University to study film making and she attended writing classes.
I think maybe part of the reason for her short break, was that she put so much of herself into the role of Gia.
Angelina used method acting and totally immersed herself in the part. That technique can give a great performance, but it can take a toll on the actor.

But Angelina came back in the 1998 gangster movie Hell's Kitchen.
Angelina played Gloria McNeary, and co-starred with Rosanna Arquette, William Forsythe, Angelina Jolie, Mekhi Phifer, and Johnny Whitworth.
And later in 1998, she appeared in the comedy-drama film, Playing by Heart with Sean Connery, Gena Rowlands, Gillian Anderson, Dennis Quaid, Ryan Phillippe and Jon Stewart.
For her role as Joan in the film, Angelina won "Best Breakthrough Performance by an Actress" from the National Board of Review of Motion Pictures.

1999 brought Pushing Tin, another comedy-drama that Angelina starred in along with John Cusack, Billy Bob Thornton, and Cate Blanchett.
In the film, Angelina played the wife of Billy Bob Thornton's character.
That was followed by The Bone Collector with Denzel Washington.
The film didn't do well with critics, but grossed $151 million worldwide.
Also in 1999 came the role of Lisa Rowe in Girl, Interrupted.
Even though the film starred Winona Ryder as the main character, Angelina's performance stole the show.
She pulled in her third Golden Globe Award, her second Screen Actors Guild Award and an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress.

Then in 2000, Angelina got her first summer blockbuster, Gone In 60 Seconds with Nicolas Cage, Giovanni Ribisi, Christopher Eccleston (Dr. Who!), Robert Duvall and Will Patton.
A remake of the 1974 movie, the film wasn't loved by critics, but pulled in $987 million worldwide.

The Actress Angelina Jolie, Part One

Everyone seems to focus on Angelina Jolie's adoptions, charities, weight, relationship with Brad Pitt, rivalries with Jennifer Aniston, Megan Fox etc., no one seems to actually focus on the actress Angelina Jolie.

Angelina has done thirty five movies, counting her current project "Salt".
She started out with her very first movie "Lookin’ to Get Out" in 1982 at the age of seven.
The film was written by Al Schwartz and her father,Jon Voight, and Angelina appears as Jon's character's daughter "Tosh" near the end of the film.

Of course she didnt show up in film again until 1993's Cyborg 2 as Casella "Cash" Reese.
Cyborg 2 was actually part of a trilogy starting with Cyborg (starring Jean-Claude Van Damme) and ending with the direct to video Cyborg 3: The Recycler.
In the third movie, Angelina's character was played by Khrystyne Haje.

Then came 1995's Without Evidence where Angelina starred with Scott Plank (Melrose Place).
But Angelina's other 1995 was the cult hit "Hackers".
Angelina starred in it as Kate Libby also known as "Acid Burn".

1996 saw three movies with Angelina come out, Mojave Moon ( with Danny Aiello, Anne Archer, Michael Biehn, Alfred Molina and Peter MacNicol), Love Is All There Is (a romantic comedy film) and Foxfire.

In 1997 Angelina had three more projects.
Two TV movies (True Women and George Wallace) and a theatrical release, Playing God ( with David Duchovny, Timothy Hutton and the awesome Peter Stormare).
Playing God didn't do very well, but the TV movie George Wallace got Angelina a Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actress in a Series/Miniseries/TV Movie, and an Emmy Nomination for Best Supporting Actress in a Miniseries or a Movie.

So finally, Angelina Jolie was getting some attention.

Angelina Jolie's Version of "The Little Black Dress"

Out of all the Angelina Jolie news this week. it seems like the most popular topic was the dress she wore to the premiere of Quentin Tarantino's (and Brad Pitt's of course) new movie.
Everyone seemed to like the skin tight black leather dress and thought she looked great in it.
Maybe she wore the dress to kill the pregnancy rumors.
Because she sure didn't look pregnant.

And Angelina is making news of another kind....sorta.
Controversial sculptor Daniel Edwards will debut his new sculpture "Landmark of Breastfeeding" on September 11 at MainSite Contemporary Art, in Norman, Oklahoma.
You may remember Mr. Edwards from some of his sculptures...the disembodied head of Ted Williams, a life-sized statue of Britney Spears giving birth on her hands and knees on a bearskin rug, a bust of Senator Hillary Clinton, the Paris Hilton Autopsy sculpture and a 25 foot bust of Fidel Castro.
This time, the sculpture is of Angelina breastfeeding her twins.

Angelina Jolie News: Iraq, McDonalds and Wanted 2

Lots of Angelina Jolie news today so.....

Angelina made her third trip to Iraq last Thursday show her support for Iraqis affected by war.
Why three trips?
Well you have to remember that besides beign an actress, Angelina is also a U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) Goodwill Ambassador.
Angelina first visited Iraq in 2007, then again in Februray 2009, and then again last Thursday.
On Thursday she toured a makeshift settlement on the outskirts of Baghdad on Thursday, where 20,000 Iraqis live.

And in other news, Angelina and Brad hit a McDonalds drive thru over the weekend.
Yep, thats actually being reported as news.
Details: Brad was driving, Angie rode shotgun and all the kids ( Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, and the twins, Knox and Vivienne) were in the back.
No word on what they ordered.

And speaking of Knox and Vivienne, they turned 1 on July 12th.
Yes it's really been a little over a year since they were born.

And it looks like there will be a "Wanted 2" and that James McAvoy (Wesley Gibson) and Angelina (Fox) will both be in it.
But Fox died in the first one.
Ahhhh...but in movie sequels (like comic books and Wanted was loosely based on a comic book) people rarely stay dead.
At the San Diego Comic Con, director Timur Bekmambetov said that even though Fox was seriously wounded (yep) she was put in the "wax bath" from the first movie.
Can that heal her?
If Angelina Jolie signs on, trust me, they will find a way to get Fox back up and running.

Angelina and David Beckham?

Angelina Jolie has reportedly signed with Emporio Armani to become the hands-on spokesmodel of their new perfume.
The name of the perfume is as yet unrevealed, but Angelina is expected to be heavily involved in it's promotion.
So heavily involved, that Angelina is reportedly picking the photographers and directors for the ad campaign.

Of course David Beckham is also a spokesperson for Armani, so could we be seeing an ad campaign with both Angelina and David?
"No" according to Beckham.
Beckham told Extra that even though he is a huge Angelina fan, he wouldn't feel right about doing an ad with her.
He said...
"She's an amazing person and so is Brad Pitt. They're an incredible couple -- got an amazing family. You know she wouldn't do it and I wouldn't do it. At the end of the day, I wouldn't do it because I'm married."

Angelina Jolie, the Forbes List and More Kids?

Angelina Jolie knocked Oprah Winfrey out of the top spot on the Forbes Magazine’s Most Powerful Celebrities list.
The magazine cites Angie's busy year with “Kung Fu Panda,” “Wanted” and her new film “Salt,” earning her a cool $27 million dollars.
Also all the press (good and bad) about the birth of her twins (Vivienne and Knox) and with the constant media attention she gets from her relationship with Brad Pitt helped keep her in the limelight.
The annual Celebrity 100 list, ranks the rich and famous based on media exposure and career earnings over the past year.

And despite all the "break up" rumors we keep hearing, now there is a rumor that Brad and Angelina may finally be tying the knot.
And the big wedding may take place in the Caribbean.

And there is another rumor that seven maybe Brad and Angelina's lucky number.
Yes, by adoption or natural birth, the couple may be looking at adding another child to the clan.
Okay guys, "Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it" was written a long time ago.

Angelina Jolie and the Deadly Set Light

While working on the set of her upcoming movie "Salt" Angelina Jolie was injured.
Sounds terrible huh?
She accidentally bumped into a set light.
Doesnt sound that bad huh?
Well she got cut and a slight concussion.
See?
She "bumped" into a light...and "bumped" it hard enough to get a concussion?
How hard did she hit that thing?
Well she came back to work, trooper that she is, and they used makeup to cover the injury.
It was evidently right between the eyes.

And in more Tomb Raider 3 news, it looks like producer Dan Lin is in favor of Megan Fox as the new Lara Croft.
Forget Jennifer Aniston, Megan Fox and Angelina Jolie is the feud I wanna see!

Angelina Jolie And James McAvoy were nominated for "Best Kiss"(for Wanted) at MTV's Movie Awards, but they lost to Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson for Twilight.
There is no justice.

Angelina Joile and Tomb Raider 3

Tomb Raider 3 is going ahead with production.
But it will be going ahead without Angelina Joile.
The producer Dan Lin has said that he wants the new movie to be a re-boot (here we go again) and that the new movie will focus on a younger Lara Croft and her origin story.
He also said he wants the film to be more character-driven.
He also wants to make the movie more realistic than the past Lara Croft movies.

Tomb Raider
Character-driven?
More realistic?

Lofty goals.
But isn't this a movie about a video game?
Don't get me wrong, I like story as much as anybody.
And action films can have a good storyline.
But isn't Tomb Raider supposed to be escapism?
A gorgeous, smart, athletic woman running around blasting the bad guys?
I just can't see a Tomb Raider movie winning an Oscar for best picture.
And I suppose since it's a reboot, Tomb Raider 3 is out as a title.
Let me guess..."Tomb Raider: A New Beginning".

Here's my idea.....
Lara Croft (Angelina Jolie) runs into trouble in the present day, finds a mystic artifact that transports her back in time and meets her younger self (Megan Fox).
The two Tomb Raiders team up and save the world (while of course causing massive destruction) and look really good doing it.

There, you can thank me for the 95 million dollar opening weekend later.

Again?
Yes, it seems it's that time of the year again when the media has decided enough is enough.

This time, it seems that Brad is tired of watching the kids 24/7 while Angelina shoots movies.
But imagine if this does go through this time.
An estimated $250 million fortune at stake, plus custody of the kids.
Throw in the Jennifer Aniston angle and you have the makings of a media firestorm.
Oh yeah, and don't forget the book by the former bodyguard.

There are so many reports about Brad and Angelina everyday that you would think there are about four alternate reality Brangelina's running around.

Alternate Reality Brangelina One:
In this reality, Brad and the kids gave Angelina a beautiful Mother's Day present, an album containing love notes from each of their six children along with photos.

Alternate Reality Brangelina Two:
In this reality, Angelina is mad because Brad's Ex Jennifer Aniston is secretly giving Brad gifts.
"Secretly"?
The main stream media knows about it and is reporting it, how secret can it be?

Alternate Reality Brangelina Three:
In this reality, the cast and crew of her new movie "Salt" are concerned about her.
They think she is harming herself, not eating and crying everyday in her trailer.

Alternate Reality Brangelina Four:
In this reality, Brad has entered a rehab program for alcohol addiction and to get away from "the iron grip of Angelina Jolie".

Hey, maybe Spock can go back through time and tie up all these realities and fix everything.

Angelina Jolie and the Bodyguard

A former bodyguard of Angelina and Brad, Mickey Brett, is getting into hot water with the pair.
Brett has protected stars like Sandra Bullock,Tom Cruise, Nicole Kidman, Sly Stallone, Richard Gere and of course Brangelina.
But now his tell all memoir and possibly a TV show, seem to have Brad and Angie on the defensive.
It seems Brett really liked Angelina and speaks highly of her, but he doesn't hold Brad in the same high regard.
So Brad and Angelina have gotten some of the most feared libel attorneys in the U.S. and the U.K. to make sure Brett's story doesn't get out.

Which of course makes me wonder.
What did they do that they don't want everyone to know about?
Is it just a privacy issue?
Are Sandra Bullock,Tom Cruise, Nicole Kidman, Sly Stallone and Richard Gere this upset about the book?
I mean c'mon, it looks like Tom would be the first to launch an attack.

Okay, it may seem like I'm fixated on the De-tox Diet thing....but now Sony has denied that Angelina Jolie collapsed on the set of her new movie "Salt"......

Angelina Jolie and the Detox Diet

Angelina Jolie is doing the lemon juice, cayenne pepper, and maple syrup detox diet on the set of her new movie "Salt" and it appears to have some of her co-stars and crew members a little anxious over her health.
Angelina plans to lose 21 pounds.
The last I heard, everyone was worried about her losing weight, so why is she trying to lose more?
Well it seems one of her disguises in the movie is...a man.
So she is trying to lose her curves to do a more realistic portrayal.
The problem is that Angelina is doing her own stunts, and the detox diet is, according to sources, leaving her weak, dizzy and light headed.
You do NOT want a dizzy and light headed stunt woman.

From what I am reading, it seems she is using the Master Cleanse diet created by Stanley Burroughs in 1941.
The diet itself was made popular in Peter Glickman's book, Lose Weight, Have More Energy and Be Happier in 10 Days.
Burroughs didn't only say that the diet would make you lose weight, but that it also remove harmful toxins from within the body, cure ulcers and "every kind of disease" in the body.
He was later convicted of unlawfully selling devices he claimed could cure cancer, and practicing medicine without a license.

Angelina is not the only celeb to embrace this diet.
Beyoncé did it for 14 days and lost 22 pounds.
Although afterward she denounced using the cleanse as a weight-loss program.
Howard Stern's co host Robin Quivers told People magazine that she went from 218 pounds to 145 pounds on the cleanse.

Despite celebrity use, most doctors say the system is potentially dangerous.

Angelina Jolie in Salt

It seems Angelina Jolie really IS in the movie "Salt".
We know this because she was seen in Washington, D.C filming on the set.
And apparently she has dyed her hair blond again.
Angelina is also doing all her own stunts.
Of course Angelina is used to action movies and stunts.
Her action movies seem to do really well as in the Lara Croft:Tomb Raider films (2001 and 2003), Mr. & Mrs. Smith (2005) and Wanted (2008).

Angelina will be starring in Salt alongside Liev Schreiber (Sabretooth in X-Men Origins: Wolverine) and Chiwetel Ejiofor ( The upcoming 2012).
The film is being directed by Phillip Noyce (who worked with Angelina on The Bone Collector) and written by Kurt Wimmer (Equilibrium,Ultraviolet) and Brian Helgeland (The Bourne Supremacy, Man on Fire). So the writers and directors seem to know their action films.
Look for a 2010 release.

Okay, if Angelina Jolie and Jennifer Aniston are at peace, then why does the media keep playing up their inevitable meeting at the Night Before the Oscars Party in Beverly Hills like a Boxing event or a WWE Heavyweight match?
“(Jennifer) has never been more ready to see her nemesis in the flesh . . . It’s important for Jen to feel she can stack up to Angelina with her dress, her hair, and her date (John Mayer),” a source told OK! Magazine. “And now couldn’t be better timing.”

Well probably analyzed, unless Angelina gives Jen that look she gave Anne Hathaway at the Golden Globes.
Or ignores her like she did Ryan Seacrest that same night.

Hmmmm...you know this might be good after all.

Angelina Jolie and Jennifer Aniston at Peace?

So is the tabloid war with Angelina Jolie and Jennifer Aniston finally over?
Last week Brad Pitt took the twins to visit Jennifer with Angelina's blessing.
It's also rumored that Brad's mother Jane went with Brad to see his ex-wife.
The visit was allegedly to smooth things out before they all crossed paths at the Oscars.

Of course Brad will be there because of "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" which is nominated for Best Picture, and Brad is nominated for Best Actor.
And Angelina is nominated for best actress in "Changeling". And "Kung Fu Panda" is nominated for Best Animated Film (Angelina did the voice of Master Tigress).
